LG starts own online application store

It all started with Apple and their App Store. Having seen it proves to be quite a lucrative invention that has helped Apple cash in on millions of sold apps, all major manufacturers followed suit and developed their own services. Nokia started Ovi Store, RIM the App World, Sony Ericsson came up with the PlayNow aren. And it´s about time LG jumped on the bandwagon. Their version, ingenuously called the Application Store is scheduled to go online tomorrow (14 July 2009). As of its launch, the first beta will deliver 1,400 apps and will be initially available to Asian customers only. The company plans to expand the service to 24 countries. The number of applications is expected to exceed 2,000 by the end of the year, with at least 100 of them being completely free of charge.
