India Emerging Players, aided by Virat Kohli's century and Sudeep Tyagi's four wickets, clinched the Emerging Player Tournament by defeating South Africa in the finals played at Allen Border Field in Brisbane.
South Africa went favorites into the finals with an unbeaten record in the tournament. Vaughn Van Jarsveld won the toss for South Africa and chose to bowl first. His choice was turning out good as India had lost half of its side at 22nd over for just 109 runs. At this moment Virat Kohli and wicketkeeper Wridhiman Shah put a good fighting partnership,
Kohli was out eventually after scoring century and it was left on Saha and spinner Mishra to get India to very good total of 283 runs. For South Africa Tsotsobe finished with 5-69.
In reply South Africa made positive start and openers put on 52 before Tyagi stuck. South Africa were in with chance but once they lost Henry Davids who made 82 it was tough ask for them as Mishra was getting tough to get away too.
In end India was victorious with 17 runs. The series has been good for some players with Kohli, Rehane and Saha shining with bat and Sangwan and Tyagi chipping with good performances with bowl.
