Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo is the newest member of the ‘celebrity leg insurance’ club. Fearing the worst after the Portugues picked up a knock recently, the Spanish giants have insured his legs for the sum of 90 million pound.According to the Sun, Real bought the bankable star for a record 80 million pound in June and want to protect their money if he picks up a long-term injury. Boss Florentino Perez’s blood pressure shot up when he learnt that the 24-year-old had already been fouled 34 times in three pre-season games. The tackles will come harder once the Spanish league starts on August 30.
Looks like Ronaldo has more things in common with England star David Beckham than the famous No. 7 United jersey, and the Real Madrid shirt. The LA Galaxy midfielder truly belongs to Hollywood as he is insured for more than 100 million pound, although Cristiano will flash that famous smirk when he learns that Becks’s legs are worth 70 million pounds (only).
Beckham and Ronaldo’s insurance policies dwarf even those taken out to safeguard spaceships (50 million pounds) and the 2004 Athens Olympics (87 million pounds).
